Flowerbed upgrades are the single most important investment in Build Your Butterfly Garden. Each upgrade level increases Nectar output speed and enables offline earning at higher rates. This guide explains the optimal upgrade order and when to expand versus upgrade.
How Flowerbed Upgrades Work
Every Flowerbed in your garden generates Nectar passively when a butterfly is placed on it. The Nectar amount depends on both the butterfly's rarity and the Flowerbed's upgrade level. Higher upgrade levels increase the generation rate per cycle.
Crucially, upgraded Flowerbeds continue producing Nectar while you are offline. This idle income mechanic means that Flowerbed upgrades provide compounding returns over time, unlike one-time consumables.
Recommended Upgrade Priority
Focus on upgrading your existing Flowerbeds before buying new ones in the early game. A level 3 Flowerbed with a rare butterfly often outperforms three level 1 Flowerbeds with common butterflies.
Once your core Flowerbeds reach mid-level upgrades, begin expanding with new Flowerbeds from the shop or code rewards. Populate new beds with your second-best butterflies while reserving top specimens for maxed beds.
Lush Flowerbeds from codes like the expired FAV5K reward generate premium income. Prioritize placing your rarest butterfly on any Lush Flowerbed you own.
Balancing Upgrades and Expansion
