Build Your Butterfly Garden Weather & Butterfly Size Guide
The Size Update introduced a weather system where Rainy and Eclipse conditions mutate Eggs before hatching, producing larger butterflies. Understanding weather timing is essential for collectors and players optimizing Nectar income.
Weather Types and Effects
Two primary weather events affect hatching: Rainy weather and Eclipse weather. During these events, Eggs exposed to the weather can become mutated, resulting in butterflies that are physically larger than normal.
Weather events occur more frequently after the Size Update. Watch the sky and environmental effects in your garden to identify active weather conditions.
How to Trigger Size Mutations
Place Eggs in your garden during active Rainy or Eclipse weather rather than hatching them from inventory immediately. The mutation occurs when weather interacts with the Egg before the hatch completes.
Combine weather mutations with Luck Boosts for the best possible outcomes: a rare, large butterfly on an upgraded Flowerbed represents the maximum Nectar income per slot.
Weather and Event Overlap
Weather events can overlap with seasonal events like Fairy Update Part II. During these periods, you may have access to event Eggs that already have high rarity pools, making weather timing even more valuable.
See our weather system event page for current weather frequency information and community observations.
